Pelvic Floor Pain usually results from trauma or childbirth and is incredibly common. It often goes undiagnosed because of the patient's reluctance to mention it to anyone, and also because many physicians are not aware of the treatment options available. Pelvic floor pain is usually due to disruption or dislocation of the tailbone (coccyx), but a major component of the pain is chronic muscle tension and soreness (myalgia). A number of treatment approaches exist, including modalities (hot packs, ultrasound, etc) and muscle retraining exercises, sometimes utilizing biofeedback.
