Sports Medicine

McLean County Orthopedics is proud of it's Sports-Medicine physicians who are dedicated to the care of sports-related injuries. Sports is a fascinating branch of orthopedics. Injured athletes have much in common with other injured patients, but are unique enough to warrant their own specialized care. While all MCO physicians are trained in orthopedic care of injured athletes, we have one surgeon (Dr. Norris) who is a graduate of an accredited sports medicine felloship and another surgeon (Dr. Hanson) who is board certified in Sports Medicine.

Athletes frequently suffer from trauma and overuse injuries. This can involve tendons (tennis elbow, patellar tendonitis, golfer's elbow), cartilage (torn ACl, torn meniscus, rotator cuff tear, neck and back pain), fractures (stress fracture, fibula fracture), joints (joint dislocation), etc. Rehabilitation of athletes requires a team approach with excellent communication with trainers, coaches, parents, and everone involved. Athletes regularly undergo therapeutic exercise with therapists or trainers, orthotics (casting or splinting), injections, minor procedures, and arthroscopic surgery.

Visit the MCO articles blog.  It doesn't have many articles yet, but will grow soon.
