HealthCare Warning, Potential Phone Scam

MCO has recently been made aware of a potential phone scam. The caller states he works for various health care organizations in the Central Illinois area, and is using an OSF caller ID.

The caller appears to be targeting pain clinic patients, and has asked for social security numbers and other personal information.

This call is not sanctioned by MCO or any health care organization with which we are affiliated. If you receive a call of this nature, especially if you have had no recent visit with an MCO provider, hang up. If you are concerned the call may be legitimate, please call the MCO main office line and select the appropriate option for your provider's nurse.

Any patients who receive a call of this nature are encouraged to call the Bloomington Police Department. A report has been filed and BPD is aware of the scam. Stay safe this holiday season!
